How to Steam
A chair with open slats in it, a blanket, and a generous double handful of yoni steam herbs. There are 4 steams per pack.
Simmer the herbs in a saucepan of 2 litres of water for 10 minutes and allow to steep and cool down for five minutes. Place under chair. Remove clothing from the waist down, cover self and chair with the blanket and sit over the steaming herbs for about 20 minutes. If the steam is too hot, just wait a couple more minutes for it to cool to a more comfortable temperature. Afterwards you should lie down and get cozy and comfy for an hour to allow time to absorb the healing effects, or at the very least it’s important to wrap up and stay warm and be sweet to yourself.
It’s not recommended to steam during menstruation, pregnancy, or if you have an IUD inserted or a current active infection. Do not use after ovulation if you are trying to conceive. If you have genital piercings, take them out. You should always see a doctor if you have a concern about your vagina.
For those with normal pain free cycles, it is recommended to do a yoni steam 4 times per year, preferably just before a menstrual cycle begins.
For period problems: Do three steams in the week before your period begins, and repeat monthly until there is no cramping.
For postpartum women: You can do a yoni steam 6 weeks after giving birth, for the purpose of cleansing the uterine membrane.
For Fertility: Every two weeks. Do not do after ovulating.
Hormonal migraines- up to three times the week before your period
Menopause- as needed or four times a year at seasonal changes, for instance. Menopausal women who do yoni steams have reported passing thick clots of dark blood up to a year after menstruation has ceased.
